Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS
Deadline: 2017-06-30
Region: North America
Job description:
Research Associate in Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Arizona
The experimental high energy physics group at the University of Arizona invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate position with our ATLAS program at the CERN LHC. The position is nominally for two years with the possibility of extension for a third year.
The primary responsibility for this position is to participate in our ATLAS Run 2 physics program to search for exotic new particles. Thus the successful candidates will have a strong record in physics data analysis. Arizona holds significant responsibilities in Liquid Argon and Muon ATLAS Phase 1 upgrade construction projects. We are pursuing similar responsibilities in the Phase 2 upgrade. Successful candidates would also have an interest in one of these projects, but the primary responsibility is Run 2 data analysis.
All applications, including a full resume with a list of most significant publications and statement of research interests should be submitted online at https://uacareers.com/postings/17896. This is posting number P20356. References will automatically be requested to send letters of recommendation to this website. Applications will be processed as they are received.
Inquiries about the positions can be sent to Professor Erich Varnes with email varnes@physics.arizona.edu and phone (520)626-0217.
The University of Arizona seeks people with diverse perspectives and experiences and is a committed Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action organization. Women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. As an Employer of National Service, we also encourage applications from alumni of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service programs.
