The working group is strongly involved in a number of high energy physics experiments. This includes the ATLAS experiment and its upgrade for the high-luminosity phase of the LHC, the NA62 experiment measuring rare kaon decays, research and development towards a high-precision hadron calorimeter for future collider experiments within the CALICE collaboration, as well as the ShiP experiment exploring the dark sector. The group is part of the cluster of excellence PRISMA („Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter“), dedicated to explore key questions of the fundamental constituents of matter and its cosmological implications.
The successful applicant is expected to take on a leading role in the research activities of the group, to engage in detector construction, operation and data analysis, to supervise postdocs and students, as well as to participate in teaching in the bachelor and master programs. The position offers opportunities to contribute to shaping the Mainz research program with the support of the cluster of excellence PRISMA.
