Experimental High Energy Physics Group
The experimental high energy physics group at the University of Wisconsin, Madison has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate. The UW madison High Energy Physics group led by Profs. Dasu, Herndon and Smith plays a leading role in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We are pursing a broad physics program in standard model physics, Higgs physics (both standard model and new physics), and dark matter searches. The quickly increasing data set of 13 TeV proton-proton collisions offers exciting possibilities for measurements of standard model phenomena and searches for new physics.
Working in our group offers exciting opportunities associated with our responsibilities in the CMS experiment and in analysis of the LHC Run 2, 13 TeV collision data. The successful applicant is expected to take a leading role in the operation, upgrades, and in High Luminosity LHC research and development for the CMS CSC endcap muon system as well as perform frontier physics analysis. A Ph.D. in experimental particle physics and a strong record of research, including experience in physics analysis and hardware, are required. Our group has leading roles in CMS physics analyses and the trigger, muon and computing systems.
