Deadline: 2015-12-31
Region: Europe
Job description:
INFN Padova invites applications for a position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric e+e- collider at KEK laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan.
The Belle II experiment is an upgrade to the Belle experiment and is now under construction, with detector commissioning scheduled to begin in 2016. The physics goals of Belle II include studies of CPviolation, rare decays of B and D mesons.
The Padova group focuses on measurements of charmless B decays and new physics.
We are involved in the Time-of-Propagation (TOP) detector that uses totally internally reflected Cherenkov radiation to identify pions, kaons, and protons. We designed the calibration system of the TOP detector, we are contributing to the assembling and installation of the TOP detector. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to play a leading role in this project and to participate in the physics analysis using the Belle II simulation and the Belle dataset.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in High Energy Particle Physics and C++ programming experience.
Position: 2 years post doct at INFN Padova - University of Padua.
Net salary range: 19500 - 21000 euro per annum + 5000 euro for resident outside the Veneto region.
Significant travel to Japan for the commissioning will be required.
Applicants should send by e-mail their curriculum vitae and and three names for possible request of reference letters.
Review of the applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
