Job description:
The High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory has a postdoctoral position opening in the experimental cosmology group focusing on studies of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) as part of the South Pole Telescope (SPT) collaboration.
Efforts in this group focus on the development of detection and readout technologies and mapping the CMB with the SPT. This position includes the opportunity to be part of the ground-floor analysis of data from the newly deployed SPT-3G receiver as well as technology development for future CMB instruments. Postdocs working on technology development will have access to multiple test and fabrication facilities, the latter involving close collaboration with Materials Science Division and the Center for Nanoscale Materials. Postdocs will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the computational cosmology group. Interactions with other groups in the HEP division, Fermilab, and the University of Chicago are highly encouraged.
We expect you to have:•Ph.D in Physics or Astronomy, which was obtained within the last 5 years •Experience with CMB data analysis and simulation techniques is highly desirable •Working knowledge of cryogenic systems and operation of TES bolometers •Good general knowledge of current high-energy physics and mathematical methods for physics applications.
The following documents are required to apply for this position: Cover Letter, Research Statement, CV (including publication list), and three letters of recommendation. After applying here, please send all materials to hep_letters@anl.gov
