Job description:
"ATLAS Experiment" The High Energy Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) invites applications for two postdoctoral research associate positions to work on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The successful candidates are expected to take leading roles in Argonne’s work on ATLAS instrumentation,as well as to make significant contributions to physics analysis. The appointment can be extended up to three years and can be based at CERN or Argonne. For full consideration applications should be received by the 21st of April 2017. The Argonne ATLAS group has responsibilities in operations and upgrades of the ATLAS experiment as well as broad interests in physics. Currently, the group is engaged in the HL-LHC upgrades of ITK (Pixel modules and cooling) and TDAQ (Track triggers, FELIX detector readout, and Region of Interest Distributor), commissioning of the fast track trigger (FTK), operations of the Tile hadronic calorimeter and TDAQ, ATLAS core software development, machine learning algorithms, and software design for high-performance computers. The group has strong involvement in SM physics measurements, searches for new physics, Higgs measurements, and development of b-taggingalgorithms. The successful candidates are expected to further our contributions to some of these areas, but we are also open to discussion of other opportunities. The candidates must have received their Ph.D. in experimental particle physics within three years of the start of the appointment. Applicants should send curriculum vitae, a description of research interests through the application system http://www.anl.gov/careers/apply-job/postdoctoral-applicants with Requisition Number 402123, and arrange for three letters of recommendationto hep_letters@anl.gov . For further information, contact Dr. James Proudfoot at proudfoot@anl.gov . Review of applications will begin once the application is completed and will continue until the positions are filled.
