Job description:
The University of Adelaide is part of the recently announced Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav). We seek to appoint a Research Associate to undertake research into the development of high-power continuous-wave lasers with wavelengths of ca. 2 micron for next-generation gravitational wave detectors. Initial research will focus on fiber-based master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) systems and the development of diagnostics for high-precision characterization of their noise and stability.
Salary: (Level A) \$63,975 to \$86,820 per annum
Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply
Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available for three years with a possible one year extension
Position Requirements
To be successful you should have:
1.PhD (or thesis submitted) or equivalent experience in experimental optical or laser physics, photonics, optics, optical engineering and/or optical sensing.
2.A commitment to research excellence
3.Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in addition to working effectively as a member of a research team in a complex setting
4.Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5.Excellent organisational and time management skills
