McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cosmology
Carnegie Mellon University
The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships in Cosmology. McWilliams Fellows are expected to carry out their own program of original research, independently or in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon faculty, postdoctoral fellows and students.
Endowed McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of the McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon (website http://www.cmu.edu/cosmology). The McWilliams Center synergizes research of the Carnegie Mellon Departments of Physics, Computer Science and Statistics, and benefits as well from the nearby Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the University of Pittsburgh Physics and Astronomy Department. The growth of the Center since it began in 2008 involves faculty hires, multiple McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellows, and large computing facilities. Carnegie Mellon faculty participate, including in leadership roles, in multiple collaborations including those associated with SDSS-IV, ACT, HSC, DESI, Euclid, and the LSST.
Appointments are for 2 years, with renewal for a third year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress. The stipend for 2016-2017 will be approximately $62,000 with an annual research budget of $15,000. Funds are also provided for health benefits and relocation expenses.
The anticipated starting date is September 2016. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research plans, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to Academic Jobs Online
http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/6115
For full consideration, all materials should be received by November 30, 2015.
We seek excellence in a respectful, inclusive University context. Carnegie Mellon University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
