UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA CRUZ
Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP)
POSTDOCTORAL SCIENTIST

The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP) at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar in the areas of experimental and observational cosmology and particle astrophysics under the mentorship of a faculty member. The successful candidate(s) will join SCIPP involvement in the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and/or the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) with opportunities to work on a broad range of topics, from LSST hardware development to science analysis and science preparation for studies of dark energy with clusters of galaxies and weak lensing.

SCIPP maintains a diverse and vibrant research program in theoretical and experimental particle physics, cosmology, and high-energy/particle astrophysics, including key roles in science with the Large Area Telescope (LAT) on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Although the main focus of the successful candidate(s) would be on DES and/or LSST, there would also be some opportunities to work on Fermi analyses of mutual interest. In addition, close ties with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy & Astrophysics, and with the University of California Observatories/Lick, contribute to a stimulating academic research environment.
