The department of physics at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in September 2017. The targeted research backgrounds are high energy theory or phenomenology, including specializations in collider, neutrino, dark matter, computational or astro-particle physics, or cosmology. Exceptionally well-qualified applicants from other backgrounds will be considered on a case-by- case basis. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred. The new faculty member will develop and lead an independent research program, emphasizing inclusion of undergraduate physics students in the pursuit of basic science. The new faculty member will have a heart for teaching, and the capacity to effectively instruct a wide variety of courses across the undergraduate physics, pre-engineering, and astronomy curricula. The new faculty member will complement and enhance existing professional strengths of the department, and work effectively with colleagues.
