Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Pulsar and Transient research group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia. The group is active in pulsar search and timing experiments and in development of instrumentation and software for the detection of Fast Radio Bursts and pulsars with the CHIME telescope. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy and previous postdoctoral experience in 1) millisecond pulsar timing for the purposes of gravitational-wave detection, specifically in combining data from multiple instruments and 2) signal processing techniques as applied to cylindrical-structure telescopes such as CHIME, specifically in the formation of static tied-array beams and in GPU coding of frequency channelization and dedispersion algorithms. The successful applicant is expected to take a leading role in the development and publication of these techniques. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply.
