Job description:
The Department of Physics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank with a start date of August 15, 2017. We are searching for an outstanding researcher with interests in the area of experimental neutrino physics who can play a leading role in current and future neutrino experiments. The successful candidate is expected to establish an excellent research program, to acquire external funding to support it, and to develop into a high-quality teacher at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The Department’s High-Energy Physics faculty has active programs on both experimental and theoretical research, and has leading roles on multiple neutrino experiments or projects, namely on NOvA, MINOS/MINOS+, Daya Bay, MiniBooNE, MicroBooNE, LArIAT, and DUNE, as well as on the BELLE, BELLE II, BaBar, and LHCb Intensity Frontier experiments.
The ideal candidate’s research interests would strengthen and/or complement the current University of Cincinnati efforts on the long-baseline and short-baseline neutrino programs based at Fermilab, with focus on LBNF/DUNE efforts.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, and have a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience with a record of substantial research accomplishments. Applications must be submitted online at https://jobs.uc.edu/ (Requisition #15170). In addition to the online application, the applicant must include a cover letter, a current Curriculum Vitae, a statement of research interests, and a statement of teaching experience and interests. A separate one-page statement addressing how the candidate’s past or potential contributions to diversity and inclusion will advance UC’s commitment to Inclusive Excellence is also required. Applicants also need to arrange to have at least three letters of reference sent separately, preferably in PDF format, to physdept@ucmail.uc.edu. For additional information, contact the search committee chair, Professor Alex Sousa, at alex.sousa@uc.edu.
Review of applications begins December 1, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled.
The University of Cincinnati is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
