Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-CMS
Region: Europe
Job description:
The DESY CMS Group invites applications for a PhD position in experimental physics together with the
RWTH Aachen University and Prof. Kerstin Borras. Our group plays a leading role in searches for New Physics related to Supersymmetry and Dark Matter at the LHC. We are involved in data analysis as well as in detector upgrade and operation.
You should have the necessary qualification (a master degree is needed) to start a PhD in particle physics, good working knowledge of C++ is essential. We expect interest to learn or even expertise in at least two of the following subjects:
- Searches for Supersymmetry and Dark Matter
- Fast electronics and FPGA programming
- Data analysis with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques
The candidate is expected to be stationed at DESY/Hamburg and will have the possibility for regular visits
at CERN.
We are looking forward to talented students interested in new technologies, used in the analyses as well as in the detector work, to search with us for new physics.
Review of candidates will begin upon receipt of completed applications, and will continue until the position is filled.
