Job description:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison LUX/LZ direct dark matter search group seeks a postdoctoral research associate to work on both the LZ and LUX experiments. The position would initially be situated at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory where a liquid xenon test platform exists for the LZ experiment. SLAC is located in Menlo Park, California adjacent to Stanford University. 
 
The position will have wide ranging responsibilities from simulation and analysis on the currently running LUX experiment, to hardware work in preparation for the LZ experiment. The detectors are located at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota, and applicants will travel to site for shift and installation duties. 
 
Applicants with familiarity with the Geant4 simulation package, C++ programming, and an interest in dark matter physics are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work with a group, and be self-motivated. 
 
A Ph.D. in particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, or a closely related field is required at the time of hiring.
