Research Associate in HEP Phenomenology x 2 (Fixed Term) - Postdoc at Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge

Job description:
The High Energy Physics Group in the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge has two vacancies for Postdoctoral Research Associates working on LHC phenomenology. The positions will be funded by the ERC grant "New level of theoretical precision for LHC Run 2 and beyond" and will be part of the Centre for Precision Studies in Particle Physics at Cambridge.


The successful candidates will have a PhD (or doctoral thesis soon to be submitted). Additionally, the successful candidates will have expertise in precision calculations for hadron colliders (like NLO and NNLO calculations, calculations of multiloop/multileg amplitudes and matching parton showers with higher order calculations) and/or will have expertise in the area of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model and high precision tests of the Standard Model.

The successful candidates will benefit from the excellent academic atmosphere at Cambridge, computing and travel support, and from the Centre's dynamic visitor programme. He/she will be expected to interact closely with both the Experimental groups at the Cavendish Laboratory and the Theory groups at the Cavendish Laboratory and at DAMPT. Independent work, consistent with the Centre's overall goals, is also encouraged.

The ability to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills are required. 

The salary range if appointed as a Research Associate is £28,982 - £37,768 per annum and the salary range if appointed as Research Assistant is £25,023 - £28,982 per annum with promotion to Research Associate on attainment of PhD.
