Deadline: 2016-12-09
Region: Europe

Job description:
The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona, Spain, (IFAE, http://www.ifae.es) is seeking outstanding candidates for a three-year postdoctoral fellowship to work on observational cosmology with large galaxy surveys. The position is co-funded by the P-SPHERE Horizon 2020 COFUND program, which is part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions program of the European Union, and, as such, provides a very competitive salary.

The successful candidate will join the Observational Cosmology group at IFAE. The group is involved in the ongoing DES and PAU galaxy surveys, as well as in the upcoming DESI and Euclid projects. Currently, the group is focused on the analysis of the DES data, playing leading roles in weak lensing, large-scale structure, void science and photometric redshift analyses. From late 2016 on, the bulk of the PAU survey data will become available, providing opportunities for analyses in a variety of topics, including redshift-space distortions and intrinsic galaxy alignments. Opportunities also exist for involvement in the design, production and test of our hardware and software contributions to the DESI and Euclid instruments, as well as for participation in the development of the scientific programs of these two future surveys. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in one or more of the above-mentioned projects, and will be encouraged to pursue her/his own research interests.

Details of the P-SPHERE call and application can be found at http://www.uab.cat/psphere/

The minimum requirements are:
• Applicants must have been awarded their PhD at least two years before the call deadline (December 9, 2016).
• Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Spain for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the call deadline.

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Ramon Miquel (ramon.miquel@ifae.es) prior to their application, in order to define a competitive research plan, which has to be included in the application package.

Included Benefits:

Full health insurance is included for the researcher and her/his dependents through the Spanish public health system.
