Particle physics phenomenology (AJO-8196) - Postdoc at Durham U., IPPP

The successful candidates will have an excellent research record in particle physics phenomenology, and will have an important role to play in the maintaining of the Institute as a world-class centre of phenomenology research and a key facility for the UK particle physics community. It is essential that the successful candidates will have a PhD in theoretical particle physics or closely related field, and will have demonstrated strength in independent research in theoretical particle physics appropriate to their experience. The candidate will also have good interpersonal and communication skills, and can work effectively with people at all levels of seniority and of different nationalities.

Requirements

The successful applicants will have excellent research records in any area of particle physics phenomenology including beyond the standard model physics, electroweak and Higgs physics, flavour physics, model building, Monte Carlo simulations, neutrino physics, particle astrophysics and strong interactions. They will have an important role to play in the maintaining of the Institute as a world class centre for phenomenology research and a key facility for the UK particle physics community. Applications from candidates with a strong record of engagement with experimental groups are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research.
• Conduct individual and collaborative research projects.
• Plan and manage own research activity.
• Write and present research papers and publications.
• Complement the existing research strengths of the IPPP.
• Have a commitment to teaching and will take part in the Department's undergraduate teaching programme at a level of 2 hours per week during term time.
