Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS
Deadline: 2016-10-21
Region: Europe
Job description:
The Edinburgh group seeks to hire two Research Associates to work on the ATLAS experiment. In broad outline, one will work on simulation development, where they will be expected to take a leading role in the full and fast simulation for the detector; the other will work on trigger development, where they will work on the implementation of trigger menus in response to increases in LHC's instantaneous luminosity. The successful candidates will be expected to make leading contributions to our physics analysis activities. There may also be opportunity to gain experience with silicon pixel detector development for the upgrade. For both positions it is expected to have a good working knowledge of the C++ and python programming languages. Familiarity with simulation or triggering for experimental particle physics is welcome, but not required. Software skills and physics analysis interests are essential.
