The Syracuse group has a position available for work on the LHCb experiment. The goals of this experiment including finding new physics via virtual quantum loops, measurements of CKM elements, and analyzing new exotic states of matter including pentaquarks. The experiment is undergoing an upgrade for which Syracuse has the responsibility of leading the construction of a silicon tracker, called the UT, that replaces the current TT device. The successful candidate is expected to work on the UT construction as a first priority but also can be involved in the exciting data analysis at hand.
