Job description:
The  Laboratory  for  High  Energy  Physics  (LHEP)  and  Albert  Einstein  Center  for  Fundamental Physics (AEC) at the University of Bern invite applications for a Postdoctoral Position in experimental high-energy collider physics.
The LHEP/AEC  group is actively involved in the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model with the  ATLAS experiment  at  the  CERN LHC  and pixel detector development for upcoming upgrades. We also operate in Bern a large TIER2 grid-computing center for the data analysis.
The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the pixel detector and physics analysis activities. The initial tasks will include the testing of new silicon sensors, the development of their readout and the design and performance studies toward a new inner tracker for ATLAS.
Applicants must have a PhD in experimental high-energy physics with experience in HEP experimental techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated background in hardware, especially silicon pixel detectors. The initial duration of the contract is for two years, extendable. The position will be located in Bern.
The position is open October 1st 2016. The review of applications will start September 17th and continue until the position is filled.
Candidates are requested to send a short letter of application, their CV, a list of publications, and the names and e-mail addresses of three references to the address given below. We will ask the references to send letters after an initial selection.
