Job description:
The Faculty of Physics, Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Georg‐August‐Universität Göttingen invites

applications for a

Full Professorship (salary scale W2 NBesO) in Theoretical Physics

commencing 1st October 2017 as part of the Joint Federal and State Government Programme for better
study conditions and better quality in teaching.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of  nonlinear dynamics in complex systems in
research and teaching. Possible areas of research are nonlinear pattern formation, nonlinear dynamics in
solid state and materials physics, dynamics in disordered systems,  dissipation, non-equilibrium dynamics
in the early universe and turbulence. It is anticipated that the successful candidate fulfils a bridging function
between the different focus areas in the Institute for Theoretical Physics  and further strengthens its profile
in non‐equilibrium physics. Candidates should have an outstanding international research record in statistical
physics of classical or quantum systems.

It is expected that the successful candidate participates in present and future collaborative research initiatives
(CRC 937, CRC 1073). The Faculty of Physics offers an attractive and stimulating research environment through
various CRCs and numerous research groups in biophysics, solid state and materials physics, elementary particle
physics and astrophysics. Adequate participation in teaching from basic undergraduate to graduate courses is

expected.
