Engineer for the construction of Insertion Devices - Senior

We are currently seeking to recruit an:
 

 

for the construction of Insertion Devices

Permanent position 

ref. 4145

 

 

As part of a team of 11 engineers and technicians, you will participate in a project consisting of maintaining and developing magnetic components, i.e. insertion devices. 

 

Your missions are the following: 

Interaction with the beamlines for the definition of the required X-ray source properties

Magnetic and engineering design of the corresponding insertion devices

Procurement of mechanical and magnetic components 

Magnetic measurements and field tuning of the devices

Installation and commissioning of the insertion devices

Follow-up operation of insertion devices

 

You will also be required to contribute up to 15 % of your time to the operation of the accelerator complex on standby and shift work for service to users.

 

 

 

Higher university degree (Master, MSc, DESS, Diplom, Diploma, Ingenieria Superior, Licenciatura, Laurea or equivalent) in electrical engineering or applied physics

4 to 10 years of professional experience

Experience in Physics of undulators and wigglers, Synchrotron radiation simulations with dedicated software such as SRW

Magnetic design and optimization of permanent magnet based insertion devices

Field measurements and magnetic correction methods of insertion devices

Vacuum technology and cryogenic technology of insertion devices

You should be comfortable with programming language such as C, C++, Mathematica, MathLab, IgorPro or Python

Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)

 

 

 

The annual gross salary will be within the range 35 – 45 k€ and additional allowances may apply.
