DESY, Hamburg location, is seeking:
Post-doctoral fellow (f/m) for FLASH2

DESY

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.

DESY operates the free-electron laser FLASH whose GW level, femtosecond pulses offer unique opportunities for multidisciplinary research in the vacuum ultraviolet and soft X-ray (XUV) range. The combination with synchronised optical laser systems and strong-field phase locked THz pulses allows exploring ultrafast timescales using pump-probe techniques. The facility is currently extended and will double its capacity for experiments. We have an immediate opening for a PostDoc to join the team responsible for the monochromator beamlines at FLASH.

The position
- Participation in development and commissioning of a time-delay compensating monochromator beamline for FLASH2
- Support of the international user groups during experiment campaigns at the PG-beamlines at FLASH, and participation in the experiments
- Contribution to the in-house research program at FLASH

Requirements
- PhD in experimental physics or a related field
- Experience with ultra-fast radiation sources, preferentially with ultra-fast accelerator-based sources
- Experience with XUV-monochromator beamlines and XUV-optics
- Background in short-pulse interactions with matter is desirable T
- Team player with good communication and English skills

For further information please contact Dr. Elke Plönjes-Palm +49-40-8998- 2602 or Dr. Günter Brenner +49-40-8998-4527.

The position is limited to 3 years.
