Job description:
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION EXPERIMENTAL HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS AT THE CMS EXPERIMENT WITH THE CINVESTAV PHYSICS DEPARTMENT The high-energy physics group at the Cinvestav Physics Dept. invites applications for a posdoc opening within the group research programme 'Fronteras de la Ciencia' ('Frontiers of Science'). The candidate will be working for the CMS experiment in data analysis, detector operation and/or instrumentation, with periodic stays at CERN. The Mexican node at CMS includes 5 senior researchers, a posdoc and several Ph. D. and Ms. Sc. students, and is involved in the operation of the CMS muon detector and the CMS upgrade for phase II (HL-LHC). Our group has a long trajectory of searches and precise measurements of the properties of bottom hadrons, and currently leads several studies regarding exotic hadrons (possible tetraquark/pentaquark states) and bottom baryons. The group seeks to extend this participation to the Higgs and BSM sectors. Expected starting date for the posdoc is September, 2016. Contract will be signed for one year and can be extended for another year upon mutual agreement. Interested candidates must send application materials as soon as possible, including: 1. CV. 2. Brief research statement summarizing her/his expertise in high-energy physics. 3. Two letters of recommendation, written by researchers working in closely related physics; to be sent to the e-mails given below. * Due to the terms of reference of the 'Fronteras de la Ciencia' call, only those candidates who obtained a Ph. D. between 22 May 2010 and 21 May 2015 are eligible. Candidates who have already received funding from Conacyt posdocs for two years are not eligible, either. Please contact Heriberto Castilla (castilla@fis.cinvestav.mx) and/or Iván Heredia (iheredia@fis.cinvestav.mx) in case of any doubt about the application procedure. Application documents must be sent to these e-mail addresses. Information on the high-energy physics group at the Cinvestav Physics Dept. can be found at: http://gae.fis.cinvestav.mx
