Job description:
The experimental neutrino physics group at Department of Physics, The University of Tokyo, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to work on the T2K experiment. The T2K (Tokai-to-Kamioka) experiment is a long baseline neutrino experiment in Japan. T2K has been producing world-leading results in neutrino oscillation physics. Recently, the collaboration proposed to extend run to enhance its physics potential, most notably on the sensitivity for CP violation in the lepton sector to >3σ for favorable parameters.

The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in the operation and data analysis of T2K long baseline neutrino experiment, as well as the R&D towards possible upgrade of the near detector (ND280) towards phase 2 of the experiment (T2K-II). UTokyo group is one of leading institutes of the T2K-ND upgrade study, which is currently under intensive discussion inside the collaboration. If the project is approved, the applicant is also expected to play a major role in the design and construction of the upgraded detector.

The position is available from October 1, 2016, and will be open until filled, but all materials must be received by August 22, 2016 for full consideration.

Applicants should submit

  1. curriculum vitae

  2. research experience

  3. statement of research interests

  4. publication list

and arrange to have two letters of reference sent to: masashi@phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp.

Further inquiries should be addressed to Prof. Masashi Yokoyama, the University of Tokyo, at masashi@phys.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp.

The University of Tokyo is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from international and female scientists.
