Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS, NA-64
Deadline: 2016-07-31
Region: South America
Job description:
The high-energy physics group of the Valparaiso Center for Science and Technology at Technical University Federico Santa Maria (UTFSM) in Valparaiso, Chile (CONICYT grant ACT1406) is seeking to hire two postdoctoral researchers for the ongoing experiment ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Other activities might include participation in the new projects in high energy physics, detector development, nuclear medical physics and applied research. The UTFSM group participating in ATLAS, is currently involved in the Phase-1 upgrade of the first station of the ATLAS muon end-cap system (The New Small Wheel (NSW) project), in anticipation of LHC data collection, as well as in the R&D efforts for Phase-2 upgrade. In physics these activities will include studies of the perturbative and non-perturbative QCD phenomena, Higgs physics, and physics beyond the Standard Model. Successful candidates are expected to have a background in physics, computing and engineering. A Ph.D. or equivalent in high energy physics is required. We anticipate that these positions will require travel to CERN.
Appointment period: The duration of these positions is for three years.
Deadline: The end of July.
How to apply: Applicants should provide a cover letter, list of publications, curriculum vitae, a brief description of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation. All application materials should be transmitted by e-mail to prof. Sergey Kuleshov (sergey.kuleshov@usm.cl).
Contact: Sergey Kuleshov
Email: sergey.kuleshov@usm.cl, kuleshov@cern.ch
