unior faculty positions in Nuclear Theory
Institute of Particle Physics, Central China Normal University
We are pleased to announce the availability of a junior faculty position in Nuclear Theory in the Institute of Particle Physics (IOPP) at the Central China Normal University (CCNU) in Wuhan, China. The positions, available in the fall of 2017, are at the level of tenure track assistant professor. The position can be at a more senior level commensurate with candidates' experience. Qualified applicants are required to have a Ph. D. in physics or equivalent and a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience. We are looking for candidates with outstanding records of independent and original research, demonstrated ability or great potential for international leadership in nuclear theory. The new hires can be in any of our existing research areas.
The current theoretical efforts in nuclear physics at IOPP include strong interaction at high temperature and density (Lattice QCD and continuum theory), partonic structure of hadrons and nuclei, dynamics of heavy-ion collisions and signals of quark-gluon plasma in heavy-ion collisions, nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics. IOPP also has large experimental efforts in high-energy heavy-ion collisions at both RHIC via STAR and LHC via the ALICE Experiment. We are in the process of building a center for high performance computer for nuclear physics.
IOPP at CCNU, established in 1978, has over 40 faculty members and about 50 PhD students. It is home to the Center of Nuclear Matter Science and Key Laboratory of Quark and Lepton Physics of Ministry of Education (MOE) of China and Center for International Collaboration on Quark Matter and Detector Technology. CCNU provides competitive salary and start-up funding, generous housing subsidies and compensation for relocation commensurate to the level of appointments and candidates' experience. The university will also sponsor applications for the national 1000-plan (foreign, regular and young), MOE's New Century Talent and Hubei 100-plan program for eligible candidates.
Interested applicants can send their inquiries and applications (including CV, list of publications, research statement and arrangement of at least three recommendation letters sent separately) via email to: xnwang-at-mail.ccnu.edu.cn by December 30, 2016.
