A tenure-track Assistant Professorship is available at the Niels Bohr Institute. We seek an outstanding candidate with a proven record of high impact research and leadership. The selected candidate will help to build up a strong and sustained activity in the Astroparticle Physics research group of DNRF Niels Bohr Professor Subir Sarkar (http://nbia.nbi.ku.dk/astropart/). Topics of particular interest include: cosmic ray acceleration and transport, dark matter searches, high energy astrophysics, neutrino physics & astrophysics, non-thermal cosmic sources etc. However the search is broad and not necessarily limited to these areas.
The position is placed in the strong research environment at the Niels Bohr International Academy (http://www.nbia.dk/), the Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology Group (http://het.nbi.dk/), the Discovery Center (http://www.discoverycenter.dk/) especially its IceCube group (http://icecube.nbi.ku.dk/), and the DARK Cosmology Centre (http://dark.nbi.ku.dk/). The successful candidate is expected to strengthen these links.
The tenure track assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within the Niels Bohr Institute. To a limited extent the position may also include other duties.
The tenure track assistant professor must have an academic standing showing internationally competitive research, and/or have internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact.
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered. Out-reach qualifications of applicants including the ability to attract external funding will also be considered.
During your employment as tenure track assistant professor, you must participate in the formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors at the Faculty of Science in order to qualify for a permanent position.
Your performance will be evaluated after no more than six years of employment and, if the ‘final appraisal’ is positive, you will be employed as associate professor.
The position is open from 1 October 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 408,730 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 69,893).
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
