JUNIOR PROFESSORSHIP (W1) IN
EXPERIMENTAL PARTICLE PHYSICS
AT HIGH ENERGY COLLIDERS

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

Tasks:
Successful candidates are expected to actively contribute to the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider LHC. Research topics in the areas of Higgs-Physics, searches for Dark Matter, Supersymmetry or other physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics are preferred. A collaboration with other groups in particle, astroparticle and theoretical physics or detector development at the University and at DESY is welcome and currently funded in Hamburg within the research cluster SFB-676 “Particles, Strings and the Early Universe”.
Teaching responsibilities include lectures, seminars, exercise classes in courses offered by the Department of Physics as well as the supervision of bachelors`, master`, and doctoral theses. Section 12 (7) of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) applies.
Requirements:
Academic qualifications and further requirements are specified in Section 18 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act. Universität Hamburg is certified by the family-friendly higher education audit. Qualified disabled candidates receive preference in the application process. Foreign applicants are expected to be proficient in either German or English.
