Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-ATLAS
Deadline: 2016-06-01
Region: Europe
Job description:
We invite applications for a post-doctoral position in experimental Particle Physics research, to work on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The research activity of the recruited person will take place at the Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire (LPC) de Clermont-Ferrand, France, in the ATLAS group (http://cern.ch/atlas-clermont/).
The ATLAS-LPC group is involved in the ATLAS Tile calorimeter operations and upgrades, and is very active in data analyses related to the top-quark, mostly searches beyond the standard model physics (Z', W', 4-tops, …). Several papers were published by the team on these topics during the Run I of the LHC.
The selected candidate is expected to play a leading role in the analysis and interpretation of ATLAS Run II data for the search of exotic phenomena in the sector of single-top quark production (such as top-bottom resonances, monotop signatures, etc). In addition the successful candidate will spend a fraction of her/his time to contribute to other activities of the team (R&D, performances...). The position is located at Clermont-Ferrand, with the possibility for regular trips to CERN.
Further information regarding the position and the ATLAS-LPC group can be obtained from:
Julien Donini (julien.donini@cern.ch phone : +33 4 73 40 73 02)
David Calvet (calvet@in2p3.fr phone : +33 4 73 40 51 51)
Interested applicants should have a PhD degree in Particle Physics. They should submit a Curriculum Vitæ, a description of their research experience and interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to: julien.donini@cern.ch.
Applications should be received before June 1st, 2016, in order to ensure full consideration. The appointment is for two years, starting September 1st 2016. The position is funded by the CNRS with no nationality restriction.
