Job description:
The Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics of The University of Chicago invites applications for faculty positions in any area of observational, experimental, theoretical, and computational astrophysics.  Appointments are expected to start in the fall of 2016.
 
The Faculty is involved in the leadership of a wide range of world-class research projects. These projects and current areas of research are described at the Department website, http://astro.uchicago.edu/research/index.php.  Members of the Department have access to the Magellan Telescopes, and the The University of Chicago is a founding partner of the Giant Magellan Telescope. Department members are also involved in the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, Fermilab, and Argonne National Laboratory.
 
Applicants must apply through the University's Academic Jobs website and upload (1) a cover letter, (2) curriculum vitae with a list of publications, (3) a statement of research interest, and (4) a teaching statement.  Three letters of recommendation are required.  Referral letter submission information will be provided during the application process.  Review of applications and recommendation letters will begin on October 16, 2015, and will continue until all positions are filled.  
 
For a position at the rank of Assistant Professor, candidates must have completed all requirements for a doctoral degree prior to beginning appointment and are expected to establish an independent research program.  Candidates at this rank must apply at
